my baby's got a new baby! the ROARING, SLEEK and very HANDSOME Mazda 6 is now his new ride! i am probably 2nd to it in his heart now and considering we're not married yet, i am the 小老婆! tsk!

we will be collecting the car tmr and i have even taken the PM off to accompany him to this historic event. HAHA. but seriously, i think this realli means a lot to him as he has finally joined his frens in the i-have-a-car club. not that he cud not afford it before, just that he had wanted to save a considerable amount before splurging on a car so that when he eventually did splurge on it, he would still be able to maintain his current lifestyle. wat a smart guy, if u ask me! :p

we are so gonna miss 小马, the faithful Phantom bike that had taken us to all our dates and dinners and movies for the past 4 years.. (yes, we named it 小马 for its incredible horsepower!) but to commemorate 小马's faithfulness, we are going to buy the same number plate for the new Mazda as 小马 had used. :) i seriously am going to miss the wind blowing on my face even tho it tangles my hair like crazy.

Maybe we will name the new Mazda 大马 then. :p

i feel so sorry for my fren.. her parents got divorced and while waiting for the matrimonial home to be sold, they are stranded with no roof over the 4/5 of a family left. her father is still staying in the matrimonial home while his wife, 2 daughters and 1 son left him for greener pastures.. or so they thot. within the 1st 3 years of leaving their home, they moved 3 times from the older daughter's colleague's place to a rented flat in the north east and another rented place in the same vicnity when the previous lease was due. after that, they found the living expenses too taxing, surviving on only the 2 daughter's salary and a meagre sum from their mom's part time work. hence, they moved in to live with the older daughter's then-bf-now-fiance. my fren, the 2nd daughter then moved in with her bf. half a year later, under forced circumstances, her sister and her now-fiance moved from a rented flat to a rented room.. and my fren also moved out from her bf's plc and into a fren's place who had been so kind to her during her stay there. but 3 months later, she moved out as her fren's dad didn't seem too pleased that she was going to stay there in his house for an indefinite period of time. after that, she rented a tiny room up in the north while her mom and brother then went to stay with an uncle after the sisters were no more renting a whole flat for the 4 of them. a month later, her mom and brother were chased out of her uncle's flat as, according to her mom, both sides cud not stand each's living habits. under a heated argument, they were forced to move out the very same night. another uncle took them in that night. but 3 months later, the same thing happened. this time, her mom and bro had no where to go unless they split up. her mom was very upset cuz she had nv been away from her youngest child before.. even tho he is oredi 20 this year. worse, they had to give their dog away.. the dog that had kept them company for the past 6 years.. the dog that always made them happy no matter wat happened. so they gave their dog away to her sister's ex-colleague, her brother moved in with yet another uncle, who only space for one. and her mom went to stay with a fren.

all this because her horrible father refuses to sell the flat in order to make things difficult for his wife and children.. for leaving him.

even tho everyone has a place to stay now.. my fren is very sad.. cuz everyone is split up.. her mom is missing their dog and her brother.. her brother is alone with a relative they weren't close to.. and there was nothing the sisters cud do to make things better cuz their father were holding the keys to the current bad state.

most of all, my fren misses her dog cuz she knows he's afraid when he is ard strangers.. his new owner has 2 other dogs and her dog does not know how to get along with other dogs so he tends to hide away when other dogs are ard.. she misses her dog so much.. :((((((((((

my fren is realli very sad.. but she doesn't want to talk to anyone abt it.. cuz she must stay strong.. for things will get better.. she knows it will..

i had no intentions to write abt this since the 1st day the news broke out.. cuz i haf a very neutral stand on this matter and i dun realli think anyone is at fault.. it is a pure act of carelessness.. and a very malicious act of sabotage.. and that's all there is to it for me.

over the past month, the Edison scandal has been all over the place.. TV, radio, magazines, internet.. it is realli difficult to ignore. for some, it is purely for the porn, for others, it is the gossip monster in them that wants to kno more more more.. but the truth of the matter is.. it is indeed very scandalous.. and very very shocking to the HK entertainment industry.

now that it has come to Edison having to quit showbiz.. i am realli feeling a lot of rage and sadness. u can say i am defending my idol, but i believe if it had been someone else, i wud think the same way too.

we, the people that celebrities spend their lifetime entertaining.. tend to view celebrities as somewhat non-human. like they are deities, like they dun need to eat, dun need to sleep, dun need to shit. all they do is appear on tv and look gorgeous.. wake up looking like sexbombs, and move their bowels in a special, different way.. but not OUR way, sitting at the toilet bowl mmph-ing and urgh-ing. CELEBRITIES ARE HUMANS TOO. they have their needs, their wants.. like any other normal human being. most of these celebrities are not allowed to date and it is often stated in their contracts. so wat do they do with their needs then?? they hook up with ppl simply for convenience.. and who better to keep their secrets than fellow celebrities? if u did a certain celebrity, r u sure (100%) that u wud not get out there and tell someone?? or even write in a blog?? if i were in their shoes, i wud think tt the best people to keep secrets are those who are in the same situation as me and understand why it needs to be kept a secret.. (not jus from the public but from their managers and agencies too) and hence wud stick to my circle of celebrity frens for human needs (since celebrities are not allowed to haf a bf, who can they turn to?? dun tell me they can jolly well live without a sex partner, cuz that everyone is different and u can't assume everyone wud think and do the same!) even in our own circle of frens we have fens who haf f*ck-buddies, right?? it is their life and they choose to live it this way so who are we to say they are wrong if it makes them happy? guess the only difference between us and celebrites is that they have a social responsibility.. which is why they alwaes try to potray their best when they are "working".

in this case, the photos had been stolen and distributed illegally.. issit realli Edison's fault????

all those ppl who said gillian is a liar, sl*t and a wh*re and all that.. wat makes u say that? having sex makes ppl liars, sl*ts and wh*res??? if u r having a sex life with ur bf, u dun go out and tell the whole world, do u?? i think ppl gotta know the difference between her personal life and her job.. her job requires her image to be media and children friendly and that doesn't mean she has to be the same person she is in her personal life. jus like no matter how much u hate ur boss, u wud nv lash out at them, right?? but with ur friends, u wud complain and bad-mouth ur boss.. why can't ppl jus accept that celebrities are humans too??? being in front of the camera is their work and when they are off camera, they should be entitled to have a private life! and gillian had to come out and apologise for wat?? for being with someone she felt passionately abt??? it is insane.

and as for Edison, the only thing i can blame him for is being so trusting and careless and foolish to pass something so personal such as a laptop to another person. since he took such photos then he is committed to guard them with his life! and all the more since his "frens" in the photos are famous personalities.. i sincerely feel sorry for the girls and hope that the media will give them space and be understanding. they are not liars, sl*ts or wh*res.. they are jus being human.

i can understand why Edison made such a decision cuz if he doesn't leave showbiz, this saga will nv be over.. it is a closure for the HK entertainment scene and the public. i jus wish it cud haf been a different way.. not with Edison having to go.

i like him for his good looks, i like him for his determination to be who he is.. and not b daunted by ill comments made abt him all the time.. i like him for daring to chase dreams.. i like him for willing to learn things that will make him a better person professionally..

i like him so much that he is a part of my life that brings back many many memories..

the best thing i like abt him now is him being responsible to this whole matter and that i understand that such things take time to muster courage to do (admit being wrong to the whole world) bearing in mind that he had also been a victim.. something so personal stolen and unwillingly being labelled the bad guy.. he also needs time to thinka bt his next steps.. if he came out the very next day to hold a press conference, it wud haf been very insincere, dun u think?? and 3 weeks hasn't been that long.. it is just the public that is eager to see the progression of this scandal..

if i ever had a chance to see him again, i wud tell him that as long as u know how to make things better, it wud not be the end. i realli hope to see his comeback to entertainment history and when it happens, i will support him whole-heartedly.

All the best to you, Edison.. will miss seeing ur fashion spreads, ur advertisements, ur movies and ur MVs.. :(

ok i finally have time for a proper blog today.. the last entry was more like for my own record la. haha.. i thot it wud b fun to read nex year during CNY to see wat i did the year before.. tho i suspect it wud b exactly the same routine. hahahah!

so for today, i have decided to start with movie reviews! i saw 2 movies over the CNY holidays - "Jumper" and "Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street".

JUMPER

as the trailer promises, it indeed is a mix of "The Matrix" and "Bourne Identity". altho it was a short film (a mere hour and 20 minutes), it was very entertaining and fast-moving, perhaps the reason why it was such a short film! :p but the show was realli abt quality, not quantity..

i cud not help but think at the end of the show that hayden christensen has a look of the "in-between". like he is both good and bad.. but not too good nor bad. like his role in Star Wars, it was like he was a good person by nature.. but was forced to do evil things due to circumstances.. and these things, which seemed right at the point of doing it (which means he still did it with a good heart).. turns out to be wrong in the end (and labels him as the bad guy.. which is kinda against his will.. wa, a bit complicated!) which is why i say he is the "in-between" guy.

his role in JUMPER was also a bit of an in-between kinda character.. he is a good guy who is perceived as doing wrong things even tho he doesn't harm anyone nor does he have the intention to.. and the look of confusion and desperation is a trademark for him.. he did it so well in Star Wars and even better in JUMPER. he still has a tinge of adolescence in his acting and it makes his desperation even more convincing.

rachel bilson's role was quite disappointing tho. she didn't get many chances to showcase her acting and most of the time she was jus eye-candy. but then again.. i believe this is her 1st movie role since the OC times so i hope she gets bigger roles down the road and earn herself some worthy credits. her raunchy scene with hayden christensen in the show was quite sexy tho. they look like a very cosmopolitan couple and with all that high-tech effect and futuristic storyline, it makes the whole movie gel beautifully.

after the show ended, the 6 of us who went to see it tgt wished we all could "jump" too! and i wonder if there realli are JUMPERS in the world.. it is super cool!!

i give JUMPER 4.5 stars out of 5. 0.5 stars lost cuz the movie was realli too short.. would have loved it to be a wee bit longer and build up a bit more on rachel's character.

SWEENEY TODD: THE DEMON BARBER OF FLEET STREET
like i said in my previous entry.. this show was such a joke. but taking into consideration it was adapted from a broadway musical.. i can understand why it turned out like tt for the movie..

the last show i saw that was so dark has got to be THE PRESTIGE. for those who don't rem this show, it was abt 2 magicians/illusionists who were vying for the top spot in the industry and also featured Scarlett Johansson. difference is the darkness in THE PRESTIGE was apt for the movie as the story was a dark and brooding one.. but for SWEENEY TODD.. it seems very deliberate.. like everything in the show is revolved ard making it a very dark show.. like how broadway sets are designed.. to suit a theme. and when this feel is duplicated in the movie, it makes it look very forced and unnatural..

the story is actually quite a sad one.. and i do get the drift of the show.. but somehow all the opera singing in the show killed the emotion and story-building MANY TIMES. somehow the singing felt a bit amusing and comical at times.. issit that the actresses and actors cud not deliver the right emotions in their singing?? or maybe the lyricists and composers felt this would make the movie livelier?? or maybe it is just me. but each time they start singing, i have a huge sense of dread and i want them over and done with their singing so i can get to the story. I KNOW I KNOW!! cuz the songs dun realli gel with the story.. it does not help to build up on the story.. they are singing for the sake of singing since it is supposed to be a musical! dun misunderstand me, i thoroughly enjoyed "Moulin Rouge" and "Chicago" and have re-watched both movies many times.. but Sweeney Todd simply pales in comparison.. it's like every song in Moulin Rouge and Chicago tells a story of the movie.. but in Sweeney Todd, the songs jus don't have the same effect..

could it be because of the story? Moulin Rouge and Chicago both have something to do with performing and broadway, hence singing made sense.. but Sweeney Todd is about a demon barber who kills so singing in the movie is weird??

i give Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber From Fleet Street 2.5 stars out of 5. giving it a pass cuz i see the effort taken to make the set so beautifully dark and for the surprise twist at the end.

my CNY break turned out to be a jam-packed visitation season cum fashion show. but it was happy happy happy. :)

1st of all, i saw his family a lot over this period and i nv thot i wud say this but his siblings realli are nice ppl. i can't say the same for his mom YET but it is working out fine so far. i believe it will turn out just fine. :)

1st Feb
I had reunion dinner with my family as my sister was leaving for HK the next day with my bro-in-law-to-be and spending CNY in HK with her in-laws-to-be. We went for a buffet dinner at The Teahouse at China Square and it was not too bad. Service could be better though.. but the price made up for it. After which we proceeded to KTV at Shenton Partyworld and stayed till 1am.. mommy, *him* and i had "market duty" the next day at 7am! (and all of us were late. haha!)

CNY EVE EVE
Reunion dinner with *his* family.. we had steamboat dinner at his place.. and it was nice and cozy. after which they proceeded to their annual "gin rummy" competition. but the gambling session ended early this year since it was a Wed and all had work the next day..

CNY EVE
Had YET another reunion dinner with my mom and bro in my sis's absence as i felt bad that they were cooped up at home on a day of reunion such as this.. so i took them to Mushroom Pot at Orchard Point, turned out they both enjoyed it tremendously and both my mom and my bro were in quite a good mood.. that made me happy too. :) sfer that we caught CJ7 at Cineleisure, which I bought tickets for 3 days in advance! all 3 of us enjoyed the show very much and even called up my sis in HK after the show to ask her to buy the 七仔公仔 back for us! 七仔 is so cute and it reminds me of winky! the "boy" in the show is very cute too.. apparently 星爷 and the "boy" has grown so close after the movie that he's taken her as his god-daughter! the lucky girl!

CNY初一
Went to *his* place to 拜年 and then to the temple with his family. after which we went to my mom's place for lunch and to 拜年 and then to his aunt's place for a 2nd round of lunch. After which we went to his dad's place to 拜年.. *phew!*

CNY初二
Went to Jos's place for our girls gathering (which is also *his* aunt's place cuz he is Jos's cousin.. we met on this day at her house 5 years ago!) and then left for another aunt's place from his dad's side..

CNY初三
Went to Agus's place to 拜年 and abt 4pm came home cuz they had a party back home. at abt 9pm *his* frens started coming and our own party started.. lasted till 2am. *he won 300 bucks that night. :)

CNY初四
Was supposed to go to one of his aunt's place again but was cancelled last minute as most of them were too tired and had work the next day. so we ended up going out iwth agus and sally.. was supposed to go KTV but sally felt sick so we went home after dinner.

CNY初五
Went to *his* office for "heng kang".. there was lion dance and lots of angpao to collect. at ard 2pm they relocated to one of their bosses' hse (Jason) and continued the gambling den business. *he* won almost 2k that day! we went home to my mom's place for dinner that day since my sis was back in town and my family went to my uncle's place after dinner and *he* went back to his boss's hse.

CNY初六
*he* had to work in the afternoon too so i went to my aunt's place to 拜年 that afternoon. as usual, we yakked away until it was time for me to go meet him at his place and we went to Jeffrey's, another one of his bosses' place in the evening.. i don't gamble so i naturally became the babysitter of the evening. sally and agus came to join later that night. the 4 of us went for supper tgt with ronald and his wife at upper serangoon before went home that night.

CNY初七
*he* also worked in the afternoon so i took the time to go visit my principal at bishan ITE to 拜年 before heading off to town to see my "bag frens" at gucci and miu miu. :) (bag frens meaning bags i cannot afford to buy so i make frens with them and visit them at their "hse" every so often. haha.) then at abt 7pm, *he*, tgt with agus and wife came to pick me from town and we headed to mr foo's hse.. (another one of his boss). we merely stayed for 10 minutes before we took off to a d&d for agus's company. he had paid for a table of ten so he asked us along.. we had 佛跳墙 and one abalone each during the dinner.. it was darn good! it was my 1st time eating 佛跳墙 so i was pretty excited. haha.

CNY初八 aka Valentine's Day
We had wanted to do dinner that day after gg to Ronald's hse btu along the way plans changed as *he* decided he'd rather stay at ronald's place. :( i was mad but didn't want to force him to do things he didn't want to do so i stayed with him but sulked thoughout. :(

CNY初九
*he* had market duty until almost 9pm that day and we had dinner at heng hwa along jalan besar (maude road to be exact - the famous white lor mee.. i love it!) at abt 10pm and met agus and wife + ronald wife for movie after that. we caught "Jumper" and we all loved it! super inspirational! (meaning it makes u wish u were a jumper too!) :p

CNY初十
Went for Elaine's baby boy's 1 yr old birthday party then dinner with his friends. went KTV after that and the room became another gambling den. out of 12 ppl, onyl 2 were singing.. one of them being me, of cuz. not that i was complaining. :p got home at 5am that day!

CNY初十一
hung out with *him* at his place for a while before heading out to orchard, then bugis, then esplande and marina square to catch Sweeney Todd. OMG... sorry to say this but the show was a joke to us.. perhaps we were both in a good mood so everything seemed funny to us.. we made fun of the show so much that when it ended, we cud not stop laughing at anything!! went for supper after that and reached home at 1am..

CNY初十二
back to work today and feeling like a zombie! need sleep so badly.. going to ah sa's place for MJ reunion dinner tonight.. hopefully i will pull thru!!

So ya.. i hope the above explains why i am super tired despite my super long CNY break..

i need another break from this break!!
